Reformed Universalist Theological Seminary (RUTS) exists to proclaim the sovereign grace of God and the ultimate restoration of all things in Christ. Founded by Dr. William M. Brennan, TH.D., the seminary stands firmly within the Reformed tradition while affirming the biblical promise that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Our mission is to equip pastors, scholars, and lay leaders with a robust understanding of Scripture, theology, and history through the lens of Covenant Universalism—a system that unites the doctrines of grace with the hope of universal reconciliation. We believe that God’s redemptive plan, rooted in His eternal covenant, will culminate in the full renewal of creation and the restoration of all souls to fellowship with Him.
RUTS offers a fully online curriculum designed for serious students of theology around the world. Our programs include the Master of Divinity (M.Div.), certificate courses for specialized studies, and a Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) dissertation program for advanced research. Each course emphasizes biblical exegesis, historical theology, and systematic reflection grounded in the authority of the Word of God.
With the motto “Covenant, Grace, Restoration,” RUTS seeks to raise up a new generation of Christian thinkers and ministers who will boldly proclaim a gospel of both sovereign power and boundless love.

Why is Reformed Universalist Theological Seminary not accredited?
Reformed Universalist Theological Seminary is a religious institution providing faith-based theological education for those pursuing ministry, teaching, or advanced study within the Reformed Universalist tradition. We operate under religious exemption from state licensure and accreditation requirements, which allows us to focus on biblical fidelity and doctrinal integrity rather than compliance with secular academic standards.
Accreditation is a voluntary process. Many seminaries and religious schools choose not to seek it so they can retain full control over curriculum, faculty, and theological direction. Our programs are designed to equip students for spiritual and ministerial service, not for state-licensed professions.
Because RUT Seminary is a religiously exempt institution, its degrees are recognized as valid religious credentials but may not be accepted for transfer or employment purposes by secular or state-accredited schools outside our state. Prospective students should verify with their home state or employer how such degrees are received before enrollment.
Reformed Universalist Theological Seminary is projected to officially open in September 2026 with the launch of its Fall Semester. The first term will feature our foundational Master of Divinity courses:

These courses will form the cornerstone of our theological training, combining rigorous scholarship with a distinctly Reformed Universalist perspective. Enrollment details and application information will be released as we approach the opening date.
All of our programs are offered 100% online through our distance learning platform. This allows students from around the world to study at their own pace and participate in courses without relocating.
In the future, we may offer limited in-person seminars or conferences, but all core coursework and degree programs are fully accessible online.
No. You do not have to be a universalist to attend. Reformed Universalist Theological Seminary welcomes students from all theological backgrounds.
To excel here, you simply need to demonstrate that you have learned and understood the course material, regardless of your personal doctrinal position.
